News: Mental Health and Corona

The corona pandemic is unfortunately also affecting everyday life at the university. The ongoing restrictions and many other changes as part of the corona control measures, can be unsettling and stressful. These are normal reactions to a crisis and affect many people.
To stay mentally healthy despite existing contact restrictions, there are some things you can do.

  • General information on mental health and ideas for activities at home can be found here for download under News (in English and German).
  • During the digital or hybrid semester you, as a JGU student, are eligible to receive help from the Mental Health Services. Depending on the pandemic situation, counseling sessions take place in person or via video chat (BigBlueButton) or by telephone.
  • Here you can find information on coping with psychological stress (i.e., depression, rumination, sleep disturbances).
  • The Mental Health Services offers the ongoing course “Mental gesund trotz Corona” (“Mentally healthy despite Corona”). You can find more information here (please note that the counseling service is in German).
  • All of the courses offered by the Mental Health Services take place partly digitally, partly in presence.   • JGU students also have free access to the Mental Health Services’ online services with helpful tips and exercises on, “Enhancing relaxation”, „Planning projects“, “Change your thoughts“, “Improving sleep“, “Clarify values and goals”, “Coping with stress”.
